Chickenshed NYC's First Fundraiser!
On March 6th, surrounded by the caricatures of brilliant Broadway stars, our own Chickenshed Players delighted donors at our first-ever fundraising event at the iconic Sardi's. A little starstruck, the Players beamed with delight at performing alongside Alex Brightman, renowned for his roles in Schoolhouse Rock, Beetlejuice and Spamalot. By the end of the evening, Alex passed the test to become an honorary Chickenshed NYC Player and we raised over $50,000 thanks to the generosity of our community and new fans. Thank you to Alex and our entire community for making our debut fundraiser such a success!

Meet Our Players!
Meet Eden. She is a delightful member of our high school school-aged Players having joined the Chickenshed family last fall. Eden enjoys being in conversation with her peers and is pleased that everyone is so social. She loved being an avatar in the performance of JACK and is now having fun developing her character for the spring devised musical. Based on herself, she says her character is awkward but nice, looking to connect with others and make them laugh. Karle, Eden's mom (and role model!) sees her daughter enjoying herself and growing in confidence. She has liked being able to volunteer knowing that Eden is supported by people who understand her learning differences. Karle has also enjoyed connecting with other parents and listening to the backstories of Players who are triumphing over challenges. Eden and Karle have both found a place to belong at Chickenshed NYC. We are so fortunate they did!
Meet Our Players!
Felix, age 9, joined Chickenshed NYC after his mom was intrigued by themes of inclusivity and sustainability during a presentation at his school. A pianist and tap dancer, Felix was delighted to expand his repertoire to acting and singing. After loving the first workshops, he shared his excitement with friends who have now also joined the Chickenshed family (yeah Felix!!!) While he loved being an octopus monster in JACK, he is really enjoying the creative process devising the characters and plot for CP2's part in 4minutes28seconds, Chickenshed NYC's new juke box musical about the eclipse. He admitted that it is harder than just memorizing lines but is a lot of fun. He appreciates the fact that they get to perform multiple times and experience the show getting better each time. Elise, Felix's mom, thinks that Chickenshed is a wonderful group to be part of because there is a perfect spot for everyone. The inclusivity is real and a "magical thing" to experience. Thank you, Elise and Felix for being such wonderful Chickenshed NYC ambassadors.

Help Us Grow!
As you might imagine, Chickenshed NYC is not an inexpensive program to run considering the number of professional facilitators that lead each workshop and support the success of each performance. Our funding relies on the generosity of individual donors and a handful of foundations. With our annual Build The Shed campaign, we seek to raise just over a third of our budget. This year our goal is $250,000. We need your support to continue to grow, thrive, and offer our programming to every family from any background. Click here to donate or contact Elliot Fishman for more information about how you can make your gift.
Are you a Swiftie? You can donate to Chickenshed NYC and have the time of your life!
One of our board members has generously donated two VIP tickets to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour on Oct 17th in Miami, Florida. Click here to learn more and bid!
Thank you to all our generous donors!
